Tenants are Striking, Refugees on The Streets and $71,000 Spent For a 4 Day Iceland Trip: What are Canadian Priorities?

What an amazing discussion today on The Rush with Reshmi Nair on Newstalk 1010. If you know me, I will talk about price gouging, changing the status quo and health and how policy influences and effects individuals and communities. Who’s responsible? How do we get accountability? Who does this disproportionally impact inadvertently or intentionally? How does this affect my health and well-being? These are the questions we all should be asking.

Topics we covered today included:
1. Rent and the ever-increasing costs: Tenants organize local protests. But what's needed for a national housing movement?
2. Refugees remain on Toronto streets over funding stalemate; no new federal money announced.
3. NDP MPP quits, blaming high child-care costs (and of course, I added that women still need support in these roles --representation matters!)
4. Governor General expensed $71,000 in limo fees for four-day Iceland trip in 2022.
5. Canadian police, and emergency agencies consider adopting Meta's "Threads"
6. Some Toronto area stores are closing their beer and wine sections. Why? Because they’re not making money.
