Prime Minister & Sophie Announce Seperation
Just finished talking with Vasiliki (Vass) B. and CBC News on The Sunday Conversation about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Sophie’s Instagram separation announcement. I had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister about 4 weeks ago and honestly, I wish him and his family all the best at this most difficult time. Although the role of the Prime Minister is a public one, the Prime Minister's accountability is related to his policies, conflicts of interest and decisions that affect everyday Canadians. What the Prime Minister is not accountable for or to the public is updates on his relationship status. Sophie nor the PM had to tell us about the separation. They owe us nothing in regard to their personal lives. However, we as Canadians have the accountability to understand that separation is hard at ANY TIME in someone's life and provide them with the grace to grieve privately and deal with this massive change in their family life dynamic. Divorce/Separation sucks--even more so with children in the mix. So try to be kind, save the drama for your mama and worry about things like climate change, mental health and healthcare--we aren't worried if your house is in "order" so you shouldn't worry about someone else's.
I wish them both all the best on whatever path forward they decide to take.
